Massage Is Wonderful!!!

And this is not just my opinion honestly!  99% of people say they feel fabulous after a massage, however not everyone knows how how fantastic you can feel with regular massage sessions, so make it part of your life today!

Massage is the most primary of all healing techniques. Massage is so basic to nature that we do it automatically. Let me explain how:-
• You are walking across a room, and you accidentally bump your elbow on the edge of a table. Pain shoots up your arm. Instantaneously you grab your elbow and without thinking, you begin to rub it. This is massage.
• As I write this, my daughter is lying asleep upstairs. A little while ago, I gave her a cuddle and gently rubbed her back as I kissed her goodnight and wished her “sweet dreams”.  This is massage.
• I give my husband a hug when he comes home after a hard day working.  I find myself caressing his shoulders and back. This is massage.
The point is that massage is the most naturally healing thing you can do. The nurturing touch is simple, instinctive, and more powerful than we can imagine. Some of the many studies on touch show conclusively that it reduces stress, alleviates depression, reduces pain, boosts the immune system, and helps pre-mature babies catch up in their development. Without touch we close down. With touch we love, communicate, and nurture one another.
Because massage is naturally healing, its therapeutic use dates back as far as mankind. Ancient Greek, Roman, and Oriental medical treatises describe in detail how and when massage should be used. In the Western world it fell out of favor in the Middle Ages as the church regarded the body as sinful. But, by the 1800’s, a new interest in massage was started in Sweden, and today there are many popular modalities of therapeutic massage and bodywork.

In Emerald Dreams I offer a combination of Swedish and No-Hands massage techniques, using a soft, medium or firm touch, depending on your individual needs.

 What To Expect

There is no need to be worried about undressing for your massage, I want you to feel safe and comfortable and will ensure we are professional at all times. I will advise you what is going to happen during your massage, then instruct you how to place the towels over your body, so that your dignity will remain in tact throughout your massage, before leaving the room, to allow you your privacy whilst undressing and getting onto the couch. During the massage, the towels will be moved slightly in order to gain access to the part of the body that is being currently massaged, and then replaced before moving onto the next area. If you feel uncomfortable about any part of your body being massaged, please just advise me and I will, of course, avoid this area completely.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks. The term “Swedish” massage is actually only recognized in English and Dutch speaking countries, and in Hungary. Elsewhere (including Sweden) the style is referred to as “classic massage”.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is not uncommon for receivers of deep tissue massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two.

Deep tissue massage is applied to both the superficial and deep layers of muscles, fascia, and other structures. The sessions are often quite intense as a result of the deliberate, focused work.

Indian Head Massage

This thoroughly relaxing massage, is performed with you sitting down, the movements used have been passed down through generation after generation of Indian family life.  I use a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to stimulate the head, neck, upper back arms, shoulders and face area. This treatment is a very good stress reliever!
Its effective for: Migraines, Headaches, Neck and Shoulder Stiffness, Eye Strain, Tinnitus, Jaw Ache, Insomnia, Aiding Concentration and helps reduce the effects of stress. It can even help with hair growth in some cases!

Back / Shoulder Massage

A lot of people suffer from tension in the upper or lower back, shoulders or neck. This relaxing and soothing massage helps get rid of unpleasant aches and pains

Leg Massage

Are you suffering from tight or over-stretched muscles through hard work or sports injuries. This massage will help get rid of aching muscles and relieve stiff joints
